Shostenko A. Substantiation of complex stage-by-stage rehabilitation of patients with generalized catarrhal gingivitis

According to the results of the clinical and laboratory examination of 82 patients with generalized catarrhal gingivitis, the leading role in the development of the disease has been attributed to changes in the biocenosis of the dentate furrows, violation of the state of local immunity and dysfunction of the monocyte-macrophage of the immune system. The obtained data from clinical, microbiological and immunological studies have shown greater effectiveness of the developed stage therapy of generalized catarrhal gingivitis, especially its exacerbated forms, in comparison with the traditional one, which is due to accelerated elimination of possible pathogens of the disease, elimination of the deficiency of local humoral immunity, and also imbalance of the cytokine system. The scheme of active rehabilitation of patients with acute course of generalized catarrhal gingivitis, which provides after professional hygienic measures and elimination of the inflammatory process in the gums, is included in the complex therapy of immunomodulatory drugs, provides recovery in 93.3% of patients and reduces the duration of treatment by an average of 5.9 ± 0,3 days.
