Thesis is devoted to theoretical generalization and a new solution of the scientific problem, which is to reveal the legal essence of public control over the activities of the National Police, to determine the peculiarities of its implementation and to identify the areas of improvement of the current legislation in the field of its implementation. The social conditionality of public control over the activities of the police, the state of his scientific analysis and legal provision in Ukraine is revealed. The concept and content of public control over the activity of the police are defined; the subjects of public control over the activity of the police are identified and their powers in this area are analyzed. The foreign experience of legal support and organization of public control over the activities of the police was studied and the ways of its implementation in Ukraine were determined. The procedural procedure for implementing forms of public control over the activities of the police in Ukraine is analyzed and directions for its improvement are outlined.
