Koriahina A. Phonetic features of German officials’ modern sociolect (an Experimental Phonetic Study)

The thesis presents the analysis of the pronunciation variability of German officials based on the segmental and supersegmental phonetic levels of the German language. The study is based on studying the dependence of phonological variables of vowels and consonants and some intonation features on situational and social factors. The results of the research confirm the hypothesis of the study about the usage of sociolect on phonetic level by German officials. In dependence on the degree of formality of communicative situation the representatives of determined social group use different phonological variables in vowel- and consonant-system. In the course of phonetic-acoustic experiment variable rules in realization of vowels and consonants’ variants were determined.
