Essay

Object – museum and clinical strains of staphylococcal skin isolates with various mechanisms of MLS-resistance, extracts of medic-inal plants from the flora of Ukraine; aim – to develop a microbiological substantiation of the investigation of new agents for the treatment of pyodermia, based on the study of biologically active substances of medicinal plants with direct antimicrobial activity, and also show synergism of the antimicrobial action with macrolides regarding staphylococcal skin isolates, restore sensitivity of MLS-resistant staphylococci to macrolides; methods – microbiological, chromatographic, bioautographic, mathematical and statistical; results – the sensitivity to antibodies of the MLS-group in Staphylococci, isolated from patients with different forms of pyoderma, was analyzed; the phenotypic identification of the determinants of this type of antibiotic resistance has been carried out; a significant distribution of MLS-resistant antibiotics-resistant Staphylococcus strains among skin isolates of S. aureus (45.0%) and coagulase-negative Staphylococci (88.0%) has been detected; there has been carried out a targeted search for the active components of extracts of medicinal plants with antimicrobial and antibiotic-potentiating properties in relation to skin isolates of Staphylococci with various mechanisms of MLS-resistance; for the first time, the ability of extracts of a whole range of medicinal plants from the flora of Ukraine to increase the sensitivity of MLS-resistant Staphylococci to macrolides has been established; there has been experimentally proven that the biologically active substance of the extract of the fruits of alder sulfur significantly increases the post-antibiotic effect of erythromycin against the MLS-resistant strain of S. aureus, and also clearly slows down the rate of acquisition of erythromycin resistance to S. epidermidis, providing a reliable elimination of the phenotypic sign of resistance; branch – medicine.
