The thesis is devoted to the comparative research of the development of the lexemes denoting an inhabited place in Ukrainian, Russian, English and German and singling out their isomorphic and allomorphic features. The paper works out the theoretical and methodological grounds for contrasting the vocabulary in the East Slavic and West Germanic languages. The development of the etymons is reconstructed; the native and borrowed units are defined. The model of semantic structure of the constituents of the Lexical-Semantic Group inhabited place is outlined; the characteristics of arch-seme actualization are contrasted; isomorphic and allomorphic semes are found out in the semantic structure of the constituents of the Lexical-Semantic Group inhabited place in the languages under consideration.7452
