Glushchenko O. Development and functioning of diphthongs in German (diachronic research)

This thesis is based on the diachronic and synchronic research methods along with synergetic methodology. The thesis focuses on the diphthongs development evolution in the position of anlaut, inlaut, auslaut of the German word, and on phonetic and phonological structures interaction in different periods of the German language historical development (VIII-XXI centuries). The study identifies diphthongs functions in three word positions in interaction with the grammatical (morphological) structure at each stage of the German language evolution, determines general structures and specific models of these word parts and defines their development patterns using the data of German language various historical sections.
