Kolodchyn D. Detention as a Precautionary Measure.

The dissertation examined the doctrinal and applied aspects of normative regulation of preventive measures in the form of detention. The development and modern state of scientific knowledge about the detention as a precautionary measure were described, the historical genesis of this criminal procedural institute was considered. The directions for possible improvement of normative regulation and application of preventive measures in the form of detention, taking into account international standards, foreign experience, legislative tendencies in Ukraine in particular, were analyzed. The defects of normative regulation and practice of application of precautionary measures in the form of detention at the stage of a pre-trial investigation, preparatory proceedings, court proceedings in the first and appellate instances were revealed. Scientifically substantiated ways of elimination of these shortcomings were offered.
