The thesis presents a study of the semantic and pragmatic potential of the author’s language and the author’s speech based on the novels by Charlotte Bingham. The semantic and pragmatic potential of the author’s language and the author’s speech has been defined as a complex of language, speech devices and speech figures that the author uses in fiction and via which the author objectifies his creative manner, worldview, creates intellectual and / or emotional impact on the reader. It has been ascertained that the author’s speech actualizing the author’s language is represented in compositional speech forms. Compositional speech forms have been classified into nuclear (narration, description and argumentation) and peripheral, that are used to itemize the nuclear compositional speech forms. Key words: semantic and pragmatic potential, author’s language, author’s speech, lexical, stylistic devices, lexico-syntactical, syntactical stylistic figures.
