The dissertation presents a theoretical generalization and a new solution to a scientific problem that manifests itself in the development of methods of investigating the unauthorized assignment of authority or the rank of an official. It is noted that the unauthorized assignment of authority or the rank of an official affects the normal activities and authority of public authorities and local self-government bodies. It is emphasized that the mechanism of making these crimes is characterized by the fact that the latter are always committed in combination with other offenses. Accordingly, these criminal acts always carry out the role of predicate crime in technologies of illegal activity, is a way of preparing the main socially dangerous act. It is argued that the investigation of these criminal offenses is a prerequisite for the development of recommendations for timely detection and effective investigation.
