Essay

Recently, musicologists are paying more attention to problems related to the issues of performance, which is the field of musical art, where the factor of individuality is decisive. The overwhelming majority of works in this field studies the mechanisms of individual interaction between creative styles in the system “composer – performer”, using comparative analysis of the performance versions of a composer’s work to obtain an objective result. In context of ensemble music, when the number of vectors of stylistic interaction increases, research tasks are getting complicated by the need to find out how artists who are representatives of different countries, performing schools and stylistic directions, embody a coherently developed concept of a musical composition. In this case a chamber instrumental duet is indicative, which preserves the identity of each participant’s expression which is the basis of musical drama and a guarantee of the integral implementation of the author's idea of a piece. The variety of the duet participants’ interaction types is conditionally divided into the following: dialogical, which considers keeping the individual manners of performing (V. Horowitz − N. Milstein, G. Gould − I. Menuhin); synergetic, which maximizes the mobility parameters of individual performing styles, creating the illusion of the absolute unity of creative individualities (L. Oborin − D. Oistrakh, S. Richter − D. Oistrakh).
