The dissertation focuses on the complex, multi-paradigmal contrastive analysis of the phraseological units of spatial semantics in the Ukrainian and English languages. The typology of the phraseological units of spatial semantics which consists of idiographic, structural, semantic and motivational classifications has been elaborated. The contrastive analysis of the phraseothematic groups, structural, semantic and motivational types of the phraseological units under study has specified their ideographic, structural, semantic and motivational peculiarities and revealed the extra-linguistic factors that caused them.
