Essay

The object of the research: prose of Mexican and Russian literature of the 1920's (M. Azuela, I. Babel, A. Serafimovich, A. Fadeyev) as well as works of Mexican monumental artists (D. Rivera, J. C. Orozco, D. A. Siqueiros) and avant-garde artist K. Malevich. The results and novelty: for the first time the analysis of the psychological, social, and mythological aspects of the revolutionary consciousness, reflected in Russian and Mexican literature works is carried out. For the first time M. Azuela's novel is analyzed in the context of his contemporaries’ (D. Rivera, J. C. Orozco, D. A. Siqueiros) artistic search and also of the Russian artist K. Malevich. Modern comparative analysis using interspecific and interdisciplinary methods is demonstrated. The complex approach to the problem proposed in the investigation may be used in further development of synthesis of literature and painting issue in contemporary culture. Field of application: the material can be used in the special courses on comparative studies and the theory and history of literature, in lectures and seminars on the history of foreign literature, cultural studies and art history.
