practice of administrative and legal provision of professional training of police officers. In the scientific work the mechanism of the administrative-legal regulation of professional training of the police, aimed at further improvement of the structural elements that form it and, in particular: the legal basis of personnel policy in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the National Police; the legal foundations of professional education management; the legal status of the subjects of organization of management of vocational education; definition of the administrative-legal status of the pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical staff of educational institutions with specific learning conditions. The disadvantages of initial training of police officers are distinguished and characterized, namely: a) the lack of conformity of educational goals with the fast-moving conditions of society development; b) the isolation of the content of primary education from the demands of practice, which requires a comprehensive modernization of the content of departmental education, its methods and forms; c) the absence of clear legal and social criteria for qualitative parameters that a potential candidate for education should meet; d) the orientation of the educational process to the «average arithmetic» listener.
