The factors of formation of landscape complexes and their natural ecological potential are analyzed - geological structure and relief, climatic conditions and surface waters, soil-vegetation cover and animal world. On the basis of field mapping, according to the theoretical and methodological principles of landscape research of mountain and foothill areas developed by G.P. Miller (1974) made a landscape map of the study area at high altitude level and striays and a map of landscape zoning in scale 1: 50 000. It was established that the landscape structure of the studied area forms four types of landscape terrain and 23 species of striyas. The anthropogenic loads on the natural territorial complexes are studied comprehensively. The demographic load on the area and landscapes of the Skole Beskids is analyzed and it is established that the district as a whole suffers from a small demographic load (it is absent at all in seven landscape ares), most of the landscapes have a weak demographic load, and it is very strong and moderate in Dobzhanskyi and Stugomorgskyi only. On the basis of the decoding of the cosmographs, the anthropogenic loading on the natural territorial complexes is analyzed and on the basis of the technique of ball scales, the degree of their anthropogenic modification is estimated. The linear anthropogenic objects are defined, which are roads, railways, oil pipelines, transmission lines and ecological-cognitive routes and trails that have a significant influence on the formation of the ecological situation in the region. The preconditions and distribution of landscape and environmental problems associated with the negative physical and geographical processes are characterized. The distribution of the dangerous geological-geomorphological processes (landslides, deposits and villages) has been investigated. On the basis of the data of the hydrological station of Maidan, the dynamics of precipitation for the period from 2002 to 2012 and the patterns of floods and villages have been analyzed. The forest-pathological situation in the natural territorial complexes of the Rybnik Maidanskyi River basin is highlighted at the level of the localities, striyas and tracts.
