Essay

The thesis is devoted to actual scientific task is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations and mechanisms for improving water management on the basis of a common policy of the EU and Ukraine. The essence of the concept of "water resources" is revealed and a comparative analysis of the basic water legislation of Ukraine and the EU concerning the definition of the term "water resources" has been carried out. It is proved that Ukraine's integration into the European Economic Cooperation and the World Trade Organization involves changing the conceptual approaches towards the formation and implementation of a balanced policy of transition of Ukraine to sustainable development.
