Ilchyshyn M. Optimization of complex treatment of diseases of periodontal tissues in smokers

On the clinical examination of 321 persons with periodontal tissue diseases, who applied for the treatment to the Dental medical center of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, two groups were formed: the main group – 216 persons – smokers and the comparison group – 105 persons who did not smoke cigarettes, with inflammatory and dystrophic-inflammatory periodontal tissue diseases.The efficiency of developed treatment schemes for diseases of the periodontal tissues in smokers confirmed the high clinical results (no disease for 90.9 % of patients with CCG and 80,0 % of patients treated with GP) and reducing the terms of visits on average on 2.95±0.32 in the main group against 4.6±0.31 in the control group. The advantage of our developed treatment complex was evidenced by the results of periodontal and hygienic indices in dynamics, which proved the high therapeutic effect of ozonized sea buckthorn oil, both at the stage of the active course of the pathological process in the periodontium, and at the secondary prevention of inflammatory and dystrophic-inflammatory diseases of periodontal tissues.
