Zilinskyi V. The Holocaust in the territory of the District of Galicia: a source criticism analysis of the problem.

The dissertation is devoted to the Holocaust in the territory of the District of Galicia and to the source database of the Ukrainian archival repositories on this topic. The work is the first attempt to study the information potential of the sources of this nature comprehensively. The analysis of the archival materials will improve the quality of the research in general. The understanding of the number of documents and their reliability will be а driving force for changes in the study of the Holocaust іn the territory of the District of Galicia. A large number of documents in our work are published for the first time. The research of the archival source base is based on the principle of origin. Separate analysis was made of the documents of the Nazi occupation authorities and the Soviet materials on the investigation of the Nazis crimes accordingly. The first group includes orders, prescriptions, circulars of the civilian local administration, SS and police, as well as cases. Also, we will highlight the documents of the Ukrainian auxiliary police and the Jewish councils (die Judenr?te) among these materials. Instead of this, the Soviet documents are divided into the materials of the special services and specially created commissions investigating the Nazi crimes.
