Essay

The object of the research is the coatings deposition process by cold gas-dynamic spray; the purpose of the study is to develop a technology for the deposition of aluminum-based coatings via cold spray to increase the corrosion resistance of manufactured and restored components made of magnesium alloys; research methods – determination of particle impact parameters based on one-dimensional isentropic and gas-dynamic models, two-phase flow computational gas dynamics, multifactorial design of experiments and data processing using statistical methods to understand the influence of the investigated process parameters on the coating properties; results – the technology of cold gas-dynamic spray has been benefited by improving the model used to calculate the required particle temperature and velocity for the formation of coatings; novelty – a characteristic criterion is introduced reflecting the ratio between the powder particle impact velocity and the critical velocity, that allows determining the possibility of adhesion; the model for the calculation of the particle velocity required to form a coating (critical velocity) for low pressure cold gas-dynamic spraying (working pressure from 0,6 MPa to 1,0 MPa) has been improved; the equations to predict the porosity of aluminum-based coatings obtained by low pressure cold spraying have been developed; the degree of implementation – the results are introduced in the educational process of the Department of Technology of Aircraft Engines Manufacturing of the National Aerospace University «Kharkiv Aviation Institute», in the Joint-Stock Company «Motor Sich» and the State Enterprise «Kharkiv Aggregate Design Bureau»; the field of use machine building
