Essay

This thesis focuses on the study of lexical structure of the fantasy literary text based on J.K. Rowling’s books “Harry Potter”. The topicality of the thesis is determined by its study of the lexical structure and text-creating units dynamics in the English literary fantasy text by the British writer J.K. Rowling. The dynamics of the magical world in J.K. Rowling’s books are fixed at all levels of the narrative: architectonic-compositional, lexical-semantic, and pragma-oriented. It is characterized by a change in the descriptions of key motifs due to the contrast of lexical structures (which reflects the confrontation between Good and Evil), fixed in the actants → anthropomorphs, floromorphs, zoomorphs (typical narratives functions). J.K. Rowling’s works fantasies written for children and are characterized by wide use of the spoken, educative oriented vocabulary, the subject is relevant to young audience, a small number of descriptions, which is typical for the children’s literature.
