Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the development of the diagnosis and treatment of patients with chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) with Eustachian tube (ET) dysfunction based on the study of the ET function in preoperative and postoperative period, according to the inflation - deflation test, acoustic impedance measurement, and subjective audiometry. 105 patients with CSOM aged 20 to 55 years were examined. A significant decrease in the proportion of the 5th grade of dysfunction of the ET was detected after 3, 6, 12 months after the operation in groups using teflon and silicone ventilation tubes. The reliable differences in the values of the thresholds of hearing to the airborne tones, the decrease of the air – bone gap indicator were determined. The reliable differences between the quantitative indicators of tympanometry were established: the value of the compliance and the gradient. Based on the research data it was proved the expediency of using inflation - deflation test for the diagnosis of CT dysfunction and the effectiveness of the use of Teflon tubes for the treatment of patients with 5th grade ET dysfunction.
