The thesis deals with the analysis of the concept, scope and characteristics of the elements of the administrative and legal status of the head in prosecution authorities. The role of the head as an organizer of the managerial process in the prosecution authorities was revealed. The administrative and legal status of the head in the prosecution authorities is complex because it combines the legal status of the person, the prosecutor, the head of the prosecution agency (including a separate prosecution agency or its unit), which should be enshrined in administrative legislation. It was established that the administrative and legal status of the head in the prosecution authorities is the legal status of the prosecutor holding an administrative position in the system of prosecution agencies regulated by the administrative law and characterized by special requirements for the position, appointment and dismissal procedures, a set of rights, duties, functions, right restrictions, guarantees of independence and responsibility. The essence and features of administrative and legal regulation of the organization of service in the prosecution authorities were defined, in particular, the concepts and types of public service in the prosecution authorities, the legal framework for public service in various positions. It has been proven that service in the prosecution authorities is an organizational and management institute of the public service; it is a professional activity aimed at fulfilling the goals, tasks and functions of the state. It has been proved that in the context of strengthening the role of the law enforcement system of the state and the European integration prospects of Ukraine, heads in prosecution authorities are responsible for recruiting, organizing public service, managing and controlling, introducing new forms and methods of activity of the prosecutor’s office.
