Essay

The thesis focuses on a presentation of the lexical structure of the weather news stories and the analysis of its syntagmatic and paradigmatic organization in the formation of the semantic, structural and narrative peculiarity of the new genre in British quality and mass press. The genre and structural features of weather news stories correlate with nominative content and determine the selection of relevant lexical resources in online narrative. The stratification of lexical units, representing the semantics of weather, is carried out according to the semantic, thematic and associative direction (lexical-semantic, lexical-thematic, and lexical-associative groups respectively). Using the method of field modeling, the thesis presents a model of the nominative sphere „WEATHER”, the systemic organization of lexical units of which is traced in its hierarchical structure. Key words: semantic space, online narrative, weather news story, lexical structure, combinability, paradigmatic relations, syntagmatic relations, nominative sphere „WEATHER”.
