Boiko I. English terminology of cosmetology and aesthetic medicine: genesis, structure, semantics, and pragmatics.

The dissertation focuses on the study of genesis, structural, semantic and pragmatistylistic features of English terminology of cosmetology and aesthetic medicine. The research is performed at the intersection of terminology and pragmatic stylistics. The analysis of approaches to the notion of the term is made. The place of terms of cosmetology and aesthetic medicine in the lexical system of the appropriate professional language is shown. As the study has shown, the studied terminology has different sources of replenishment – borrowings from other languages. Quantitative features and functioning of terms in three corpora of different multigenre texts (media, scientific and didactic) are investigated. The number of terms in each of the corpora have been counted and a comparative analysis of their functions has been performed. Future research can also focus on the comparison of appropriate Ukrainian and English terminology.
