Essay

The dissertation is devoted to increase the treatment efficiency for diabetic enteropathy (DE), associated with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) by studying the pathogenetic mechanisms of its development and working out treatment complexes of correction for intestinal microbiocenosis disorders and differentiated prescription of natural and preformed physical factors of the “Myrhorod” resort. 187 patients with type 2 DM with DE were examined. In the 126 (67.4 %) patients with type 2 DM and diabetic enteropathy SIBO was detected: in 72 (57.1 %) patients the constipation prevalence, in 54 (42.9 %) – diarrhea prevalence. DM of type 2 with DE associated with SIBO is accompanied by a prooxidant-antioxidant imbalance, endogenous intoxication and endothelial dysfunction with maximum severity in DE with diarrhea against the backdrop of increased levels of serotonin in the blood serum. Rifaximin and Symbiter in the complex treatment effectively eliminate SIBO and potentiate the effect on the main pathogenetic mechanisms of DE. Key words: diabetes mellitus type 2, diabetic enteropathy, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome, microbiocenosis, rifaximin, symbiter, sanatorium-resort therapy. Branch-Medicine.
