Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the exploration of the opera by Peter Eötvös (born 1944), an outstanding contemporary Hungarian composer, conductor and cultural figure. Since theatrical opuses of the artist have been considered in the context of the development of Hungarian music of the XX–XXI centuries, the dissertation reproduces the general picture of the development of Hungarian musical art of this period. The thesis contains a detailed creative characteristic of Peter Eötvös, which describes the main stages of the artist’s creative activity, his connection with the Western European artistic space, as well as his role and significance in promoting contemporary musical art in Hungary
