Essay

The dissertation focuses on the topical and scientifically reasonable theme related to the syntax of the English fiction of the beginning of 21st century. The main attention is paid to the analysis of syntactic models in the English texts of fiction of the beginning of 21st century known as the literary „general fiction” trend of various thematic inventory, determining their role in text formation during the postmodern period, as well typical syntactic models and stylistic peculiarities of women-writers awarded with a prestigious British prize „The Women’s Prize for Fiction”. It has been proved that the Anglophone literary prose of the period of the beginning of 21st century requires a verbal explanation and a reader’s active involvement in language game rules, especially concerning syntactic structures of various sentences types used by modern Anglophone writers. The results of research conducted have enabled to outline the perspectives of the further investigation of the problems under study. These perspectives include functional analysis and linguistic characteristics of syntax of a modern text of various genres typology in different functional styles and also the analysis of syntactic organization of sentences in multimodal texts of various hybrid genres.
