Essay

This thesis deals with the European viola art of the first half of 20th century in the aspect of performing practice interaction with composer’s creativity.The thesis identifies the basic cultural and historical factors that contributed to the overall intensification of European viola art developement, especially in its solo component — “the viola revolution”, which took place in the first half of 20th century. The circumstances of mutual influence of the solo viola performing practice and the corresponding samples of composer's creativity are considered. The viola mussic of those composers, who personally played this instrument and had a professional performing level are separately regarded.
