Stepanenko L. Phytomass and Carbon Deposited in Forests of Kyiv Region

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the productivity of components of phytomass and deposited carbon in the plantations of the main forest species of the region. The analysis of the dynamics of forestry and taxis indicators of plantings of main forest species in the limits of forest areas and state enterprises of the Kyiv Oblast and in Kyiv on forestry and hunting management is carried out. Temporary trial areas are laid in pine plantations of the State Enterprise «Makariv Forestry», which characterize the stands established on land that has come out of agricultural use. The statistical analysis of indices of phytomass components of tree stands is carried out. The connection of plant biomass components with the main tax indicators, the main forest species of the region, was established by means of correlation analysis. The mathematical models of estimation of conversion coefficients of phytomass leaves (bark), wood and bark of branches, wood and bark of the barrel, roots, subnatural vegetation are obtained. The analysis of phytomass and deposited carbon in the investigated periods (1978, 1983, 1988, 1996, 2002, 2011), forest vegetation zones and state-owned enterprises was carried out. The annual change in carbon for the last period of research has been calculated. The forests of the Kyiv Oblast Department of Forestry and Hunting each year contain significantly less carbon than their emissions. The annual change in deposited carbon in 2011 was 0.43 million tonnes, which is 3 times less than carbon emissions (C) for this period.
