The dissertation is devoted to deepening of theoretical and methodological foundations and working out of practical recommendations in the sphere of formation of the mechanism of management of competitiveness of the enterprises of restaurant economy. The paper analyzes the scientific approaches to determining the competitiveness of enterprises and improves the economic content of the concept of "enterprise competitiveness". The understanding of the mechanism of formation of enterprise competitiveness as a managed process has been expanded. The methodological aspects of the assessment of the level of competitiveness of enterprises are studied and the algorithm of systematic assessment of the competitiveness of an enterprise of a certain type of economic activity is proposed, which includes a number of consecutive steps in the context of the outlined direction of competitiveness research.
