Essay

Object: linguistic terminology of the Polish language of the Middle Polish and New Polish period (ХVІ cen.–1939), recorded in Polish and other sources e.g. dictionaries, grammars, textbooks. Objective: to establish the main trends in the formation of linguistic terminology of the Polish language in the diachronic aspect. Methods: induction and deduction; analysis and synthesis; quantitative calculations; descriptive and comparative; correlation analysis; component analysis; morphemic and word-forming analysis. Scientific novelty: for the first time the lexico-semantic and structural characterization of metalanguage of Polish linguistics in its inception and subsequent stages of development were realized; the leading regularities and tendencies of the evolution of the linguistic terminology of the Polish language of the selected periods were segregated; structural and semantic models of nomination were irradiated. Practical value: the ability to use for solving practical terminological problems, when compiling terminological dictionaries, manuals and textbooks on history, lexicology, historical grammar of the Polish language.
