Danylenko L. Czech proverbs from a genetic, linguocognitive and discourse perspective

The object of research: Czech proverbs from the viewpoint of their cultural-genetic, linguo-cognitive and discursive characteristics. The aim of research: a complex linguistic description of problems of Czech paremiology related with external and internal factors, namely, the origin of proverbs as well as the linguo-cognitive and pragmalinguistic specificity of their existence in language and speech. Research methods employed: the comparative-historic, comparative-typological and functional methods in combinations with the methodologies of contextual- semantic and transformational analysis, as well as conceptual analysis, sociolinguistic experiment and the quantitative estimation approach. The scientific novelty of research: for the first time, the chronological boundaries of the Czech language paremiological stock have been established and its periodization has been offered; the formation of Czech paremiology term system has been traced; proverbial materials have been found that were published by Josef Dobrovsky in his 1806 “Slavin” publication; the Czech proverbs of Biblical origin have been attributed to their prototypes in Scripture, and three types of paremiological items have been distinguished that are relevant for the analysis of Classical heritage adaptation; the influence of the German paremiology on the Czech has been studied, and the Ukrainian sources of proverbs and sayings in the 19th century Czech proverb stock century have been found; the methodology has been developed of reconstructing cultural concepts at the paremiological level of Czech; and the current basic stock of Czech proverbs has been determined. The practical significance of the research: its results can be used in linguodidactics, namely, in the courses of comparative studies of Slavic phraseology, cultural linguistics and linguistic pragmatics, and in lexicography.
