Essay

The dissertation studies the rock-ballad – a widespread generic genre of rock music. Analyzed material is represented by rock-ballads of American and Western-European rock-bands (i.e. The Beatles, Scorpions, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Nazareth, etc.) The research is focused on rock as a genre phenomenon that has an extensive structure divided into subgenres.The research provides an analysis of the musical poetics of rock-ballad by applying the methods of academic music studies to non-academic intonational practice.
