Dissertation is devoted to the complex linguisticstudy of English military terms. Attention is paid to the analysis nomination processesof English military terms, and to the study of structure and meaningin present-day scientific trends. The system and structural approaches, combined with a complex methodology have been applied to characterize nominative and structural-semantic particularitiesof English military terminology; analyzed its terminological units, nomination, their structure, system and semantic features.The main ways of military terms formationhave been carried out, its productivity has been characterized and the most productive models have been distinguished. Attention has been paid to singling out and systematization of the structural peculiarities of military terms, which have been classified into three groups: one-stem terms, compound terms, and terminological word combinations.The lexical-semantic processes of synonymy, antonymy, polysemy and homonymy have been investigated. The processes of terminologisation, determinologisation and transterminologisation of English military terms have been differentiated. The role of metaphor in the process of formation English military terms has been revealed and the models of metaphorical transfers have been distinguished. The semantic types of metaphors have been singled out and the particularities of English military terms motivation have been analyzed.
