Essay

The thesis deals with the linguopragmatic features study of British and American parliamentary debates. For the first time in Germanic studies, the debate participants’ communicative behaviour at the stage of witness questioning is analysed, the preferred communication models are singled out; each participant’s strategic and tactical repertoire and means of its verbalisation in British and American parliamentary discourse are determined, and the national specifics of English parliamentary communication is highlighted.
