The dissertation is devoted to the solution of the actual scientific task - improving the performance of upgraded shunting locomotives through the use of combined energy storage. It formalizes the problem of choosing the technical and economic parameters of energy storage for a shunting locomotive. It is also developed a simulation model of the work of a shunting locomotive with combined energy storage in the power circuit, it is determined the optimal parameters of the combined energy storage taking into account the operating conditions and transitional modes in the power circuit. Based on the models, it is developed a software complex to calculate the technical and economic characteristics of the CHME3 shunting locomotive with a combined energy storage.
