Shevchenko T. Efficiency of the oxidative stress correction in children with type 1 diabetes

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of oxidative stress (OS) in developing in children with type 1 diabetes. The results of clinical, laboratory, instrumental methods of research conducted in 120 children with type 1 diabetes are presented. In this study for the first time were investigated/measured levels of OS (8-oxoguanine (8-oxoG) and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdGu) in urine, superoxide-genereting and NO-generating activity of the neutrophilic granulocytes in blood) for children with type 1 diabetes. The OS parameters (malonic dialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, catalase, restorative glutathione) were studied, depending on the duration of the disease, on the presence of chronic complications of type 1 diabetes in children. Correlations between the studied parameters of nailfold capillaroscopy and biomicroscopy of the bulbar conjunctiva of the eye were established. For the first time, the L-arginine acid preparation was administered for the correction of OS to children with type 1 diabetes.
