Thesis for candidate degree in medical sciences in specialty 14.01.23 – «Radiation Diagnostics and Radiation Therapy». – Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Kharkiv, 2019. The work presents a new solution to the urgent task of modern radiation oncology – optimization of radiotherapy for prostate cancer and reducing the risks of its complications by individualizing and controlling the position of the irradiation volume. The protocol of radiation therapy planning and monitoring of the effect of external beam radiation therapy in patients with prostate cancer T1-Т3bN0M0 stages has been developed and scientifically grounded for the first time and is based on the use of daily control of the irradiation volume isocenter’s position during daily radiotherapy procedures. The process of determining the geometric accuracy and uniformity of the radiation dose distribution depending on the individual variability of the position of irradiation volume and adjacent critical organs in patients with locally advanced prostate cancer has been improved. Scientific information on the dose weight to the critical organs during external beam radiotherapy for prostate cancer has been updated. Two methods of radiation therapy planning of patients with prostate cancer have been developed. Key words: prostate cancer, radiotherapy planning, conformal 3D-radiation therapy, 2D-conventional radiation therapy, dose weight, radiation exposure, quality of life.
