Essay

The dissertation is devoted to comparing the occidental and oriental dimensions of political anthropology, studying the foundations of their differentiation (establishing distinctive features) and the prerequisites of theoretical and methodological integration (establishing common features). The work examines the foundations of the constitution of political anthropology as an independent scientific discipline, analyzes the processes of formation of the occidental and oriental theoretical and methodological measurements, clarifies the periodization of the historical and organizational stages of its formation, classifies research groups and scientific schools of modern political anthropologists. Political anthropology, as a discipline that explores the traditional features of the political organization of the peoples of the world in historical dynamics, was formed during the XVII-XX centuries. The historical approach has allowed us to distinguish three stages of its formation: physico-anthropological, socio-anthropological, political science stage. The feasibility of differentiating contemporary political science into two major directions (western-occidental and eastern-oriental) is envisaged by the doctrine of «inclusivity and diversity» adopted by the Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association (IPSA) in 2016.The key markers and concepts that serve as criteria for distinguishing between occidental and oriental measurements are determined. An author’s classification model is proposed, which makes it possible to distinguish seventeen scientific schools of the occidental dimension and eight scientific schools of the oriental dimension.
