Essay

For the first time in the dissertation, the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of the ideology of libertarianism have been generalized, and conceptual approaches to understanding its essence systematized. In the course of the study, the origins of this ideology, to which the writings of the theorists of liberalism (J. Locke, A. Smith, T. Payne, D. Hume, J. Mill), anarcho-individualism (G. Toro, J. Warren, L. Spooner, B. Tucker), the work of apologists of the classical economy (G. de Molinari and F. Bastia) and political philosophers, as well as its evolution, which dates from the seventeenth century to the present. The peculiarities of the variant currents of libertarianism (monarchism, anarcho-capitalism, agorism, “left libertarianism”, etc.) are revealed; focus on their common and distinctive features. The peculiarities of practical application of libertarian ideas in the activities of public-political organizations and political parties of the USA and several European countries, including Ukraine, are investigated. It has been established that the activities of libertarian political parties are generally based on the principles of monarchism.
