The thesis sets out the theoretical provisions, methodological and practical aspects for improving the mechanism of functioning of enterprises of the fruit and vegetable industry based on the organizational and economic mechanism. Theoretical generalization of the foundations of functioning of the enterprises in the fruit and vegetable industry has been carried out. A conceptual approach to the formation, management and operation of enterprises of the fruit and vegetable industry has been considered. Such definitions as mechanism, industry, fruit and vegetable industry, organizational and economic mechanism have been substantiated. The conditions and factors directly affecting the efficiency of an enterprise while forming the organizational and economic mechanism have been considered. The management system has been analyzed and the tools necessary for the functioning of enterprises of the fruit and vegetable industry have been determined. Coverage of the prerequisites for the functioning of the fruit and vegetable industry, the factors influencing it, and of the management system of enterprises of the fruit and vegetable industry has been provided. The factors of the internal and external environment to ensure the effectiveness of the organizational and economic mechanism proposed in the research work have been generalized. The corresponding principles, criteria, approaches and research methods of the organizational and economic mechanism have been proposed.
