Street crime is seen as a massive destructive phenomenon, a type of illegal social practice, manifested in the commission of relatively uniform socially dangerous criminally punishable acts in open and free access to a part of a settlement outside the premises, the territory of organizations and private possessions. Typical manifestations of street crime have been established. The manifestations of street crime are: premeditated murder, bodily harm, beatings and torture, rape, theft, robbery, robbery, fraud, unlawful seizure of a vehicle, hooliganism, illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues, illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or transfer of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues for no purpose, illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation or transfer of precursors, illegal public use of drugs. It is proved that in the course of street crime research an institutional paradigm should be used, according to which crime should be considered as a mass destructive phenomenon, a kind of illegal social practice. A typical criminological portrait of a street criminal has been developed. It is proved that a street criminal is a man aged 18-39 years, who has a full secondary, basic secondary education, does not work and does not study, is not married, is prone to alcohol, drugs, psychotropic substances, lives in the same locality where he committed the crime, previously committed the crime (crimes). The state, structure, dynamics and geography of street crimes are analyzed; latency of street crime is characterized. It is proved that the causes of street crime are socio- economic, regional and demographic, moral-psychological and cultural, architectural factors. The main condition for street crime is the loss of control over street crime. A street crime victim is defined as any natural person who has suffered moral, physical or property damage as a street crime. The feasibility of using the experience of certain Asian countries in preventing street crime in Ukraine (early elimination of harmful socio-economic, cultural, political and other factors; widespread use of preventive, educational and awareness-raising measures; the application of classical law enforcement practices; programming environmental safety; law enforcement cooperation with members of the public). Measures have been developed to prevent street crime at the social, special criminological, individual levels and in the victimological dimension. In order to properly ensure the prevention of street crimes, it is proposed to amend and supplement the current Criminal Code of Ukraine.
