The purpose of the dissertation is to develop theoretical foundations and develop practical recommendations for the implementation of effective controlling of investment activities to ensure quality implementation of the investment process and the adoption of sound strategic decisions in the dairy industry. The object of the study is the controlling of investment activities of enterprises in terms of real investment, and the subject of this study are theoretical and methodological and practical issues of implementation of controlling of investment activities in the dairy industry.
The dissertation is devoted to the research of investment activities controlling at domestic dairy processing enterprises. The theoretical principles of determining the essence of investment activities controlling, by analyzing approaches to the definition of the category "controlling", are investigated; The differences between the concepts of "investment activities controlling", "investments controlling", "investment projects controlling" were determined. The directions of investment activities controlling at each stage of the investment process are separated and methodical tools used in the course of investment activities controlling are investigated. This ultimately enables to identify the scope of responsibility of the investment controllers and the tools they use.
The scientific and practical tools for carrying out controlling in the field of operational and strategic management of investment activity are systematized by identifying necessary tools at the pre-investment, investment and post-investment stages of project implementation and investment strategy as a whole. This makes it possible to determine optimal schemes of financing approval for various categories of investment projects, as well as a practical mechanism for analyzing the sensitivity of investment projects using the Monte-Carlo method.
Organizational principles of regulation of investment activities by defining internal procedures that should be used for the regulation of processes related to the implementation of investment projects were consolidated. This will ultimately allow to achieve faster project implementation, optimal use of labor and financial resources of the company during the implementation of investment projects. An estimation of investment activities controlling application efficiency at domestic dairy processing enterprises is carried out.
Also, approaches to the analysis of options for organizing the investment activities controlling at enterprises were offered. This should be done in relation to the overall level of investment activity and taking into consideration the position of management of the company.
The scientific and practical tools for controlling of investments in social, environmental and intangible assets are presented, as well as the role of the investment controller in this process.
Methodical provision of tools for strategic investment activities controlling through the definition of the mechanism and timing of implementation of actions related to the preparation of the strategic plan, proposals for categorization of projects, fixation of the format of provision and presentation of data within the preparation of the strategic plan. A survey among management of the largest dairy enterprises was also conducted on the scale of use of strategic planning. Specific tools for post-analysis of strategic planning, including investment strategy, as well as for post-analysis of implemented strategies were presented. Tools for specific investment projects post analysis were also presented.
Opportunities were offered for improvement of the current controlling process, for example, using specific controlling instruments during the analysis of investment projects. Opportunities were suggested for improvement of the process of investment projects financing coordination.
The framework for post-analysis of the strategic planning system (including, in terms of the investment plan), the system of strategic control of investment activities and the post-analysis of individual investment projects was proposed.
An assessment of the investment activity and capacity of dairy processing enterprises was also conducted. In addition, rank and structural-index estimations of investment activity of dairy industry enterprises were conducted.
