Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the justification of the procedure of identification of political orientations on the basis of human values in the conditions of the Ukrainian society. Possibilities of identification of political orientations on the basis of connection of human values, ideological self-identification and political orientations of Ukrainians are substantiated. In accordance with the purpose and objectives of the study, among the presented variety of approaches to the interpretation and measurement of value orientations, the theoretical approach of S. Schwartz and the appropriate measurement methodology were chosen. The values included in this methodology have a sufficient level of abstraction to be considered as certain guidelines in various spheres of life, including in the political sphere. Also, this technique assumes the presence of similar and opposite in their motivational content values, which makes it possible to form from a certain continuum, alternative to the ideological. Human values are defined according to S. Schwartz approach, the following characteristics of values are identified: they have a motivating force, which means they can stimulate and support certain behaviors, and are certain guidelines, standards in human life that determine the perception and evaluation of other people and things. In addition, values are correlated with the desired goals, which are the motives of human activity, they go beyond specific actions or situations, but form a relatively stable hierarchical system.
