Essay

The purpose of the dissertation research is to increase the operational stability of machine parts and tools made of steel by developing and using the technological complex of thermofriction hardening (TFH) with the possibility of simultaneously forming the necessary surface quality, and determining the nature and laws of the hardening process. In the dissertation, the scientifically substantiated development of the technological complex for steel processing of different grades using the method of thermofriction hardening was performed, which made it possible to significantly increase their surface hardness and wear resistance by 2–3 times. The scientific novelty of the obtained results consists in the generalization and development of the theories of hardening and structure formation of materials, as well as the management by thermal phenomena and deformation, which allow to solve the actual problem of surface hardening of structural and tool steels. Experimental studies were carried out on the basis of a detailed study of the influence on the final characteristics of steels of external and internal factors during their complex processing. In order to ensure effective hardening, TFH regimes were optimized.
