The research focuses on the features of systemic inflammation in women with iron deficiency anemia in association with obesity by studying the relationship between iron metabolism and pro-inflammatory cytokines to develop a method for their comprehensive treatment. In obese women, the development of iron deficiency and, accordingly, IDA causes a decrease in the level of systemic inflammatory response (decrease in the content of IL-6 and high-sensitive CRP in the serum). Restoration of iron metabolism with iron sulfate (II) caused an increase in systemic inflammation in both women with normal body weight and obesity. The inclusion of quercetin in the comprehensive therapy of women with IDA and obesity prevents an increase in the level of systemic inflammation when taking iron (II). The possible association of systemic inflammation, hepcidin and NF-kB as the central link in proinflammatory signals of regulatory genes has been demonstrated.
