Leshchuk S. Substabtiation and features of dental caries prevention in children with asthma.

This thesis is devoted to the increase of the effectiveness of caries prevention in children with asthma, taking into consideration the severity and duration of the disease. On the basis of the results of clinical examination of 397 children with asthma aged 3-17 years, it was found that the prevalence of caries of primary teeth was 81.43 ± 3.19% and dft value 4.34 ± 0.25, the prevalence of caries of permanent teeth was 77.13 ± 2 , 45% and DFMT value 4.37 ± 0.52. The Significant caries index (SiC) of permanent tooth was 8.37 ± 0.34. Assessment of mineral homeostasisof the oral fluid of children with asthma showed a lower content of total calcium, inorganic phosphorus, decreased alkaline phosphatase activity whereas the magnesium concentration was increased. The decrease of local immunological mechanisms of oral fluid protection has been studied. The seeding rate of cariogenic streptococci in the dental plaque is higher in children with asthma and increases depending on the severity of the clinical course. The analysis of caries risk factors in children with asthma is carried out, the efficiency of a complex of preventive measures was developed and estimated.
