Essay

The dissertation deals with the development of new and development of existing mathematical models of thermal processes in metallurgy, in particular the temperature distributions of single and double layer rolls of rolling mills and roll crystallizers, nonlinear initial boundary value problems arising in these models, and computational methods for solving them. Mathematical modeling of rolling processes and profiles is essential for remote contactless temperature control, process design and equipment design. Despite considerable research in this area, there is currently no single approach to constructing mathematical models of temperature distributions in such a complex system as single and double-layer rolling mill rolls and roll molds rotating around its axis and a belt or other product that are processed during rolling.
