Essay

The thesis has presented theoretical principles of research of the market of Ukrainian biographical book and the phenomena of publishing culture of the relevant products. Scientific works of foreign and Ukrainian researchers dedicated to non-fiction, biographical book editions have been analyzed. Author's definitions of such notions as ‘non-fiction’, ‘biographical book’ have been proposed. The author has also developed typological classifications of such publishing products. Best practices on the issues of publishing culture, the culture of publication have been analyzed. Opinions on the connections between these and other notions, their scope and components have been traced. It has been proved that the basic feature of the content of the biographical book is the story about life of extraordinary and influential (charismatic) personality. The views of the notion ‘charisma’ in sociology, political science, psychology and psychotherapy, the theory of social communications have been researched into.
