This dissertation focuses on evolution of the EGO literary concept in the 17th–21st centuries American women's poetry from semantic, cognitive and historical perspectives. The theoretical overview explicates the basic terms of the research, explaining the theoretical premises for understanding the egocentricity as a philosophical and psychological category; the literary and linguopoetic status of “ego”; the notions of literary concept and conceptual space (hereafter CS); verbal, artistic and poetic pictures of the worldviews and archetypical, stereotypical and novel EGO conceptualization models. The place and characteristics of the EGO literary concept as well as the EGO CS are discussed in view of their special status in the works of American female authors of the 17th–21st centuries.
