The dissertation substantiates the essence of the concept of "state regulation of agricultural production", which should be understood as a result of harmonious effective interaction of elements of organizational, legal, social and economic nature in order to balance areas of agricultural activity and promote sustainable development. The basic postulates of the functioning of state regulation of agricultural production were further expanded. In particular, the principle of selectivity, which supplemented the existing list, provides for selective state regulation, according to the influence of participants on the results of the national economy, and the principle of time constraint focuses the attention of producers and the state on concentrating efforts to increase production efficiency. In turn, the formation of competitive advantages is defined as one of the modern functions and goals of state regulation of agricultural production.
